Split Ventilation Craziness
Hopefully you wont get to this uncharted territory. If you do, you likely will not be and should not be alone. The concept of Splitting ventilation has been around form sometime mostly as a theoretical possibility. A team of enterprising researchers from Yale University published a study of a device they call a Vent Multiplexor which allows the use of a single ventilator to ventilate two patients with different parameters – thus overcoming the theoretical deal breaker inherrent with Split Ventilation.
This is exciting, but very new, and very controversial. Many societies wrote position papers on this topic prior to the release of this paper. That may change ….
